Who Profits Through Sacrifice?

Who Profits Through Sacrifice?

4Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not arrogant,  5is not rude, is not self-seeking, is not irritable, and does not keep a record of wrongs. 6Love finds no joy in unrighteousness but rejoices in the truth.  7It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

45For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Mark 10:45

You created your business for a reason.
You’re a part of your organization for a reason.
You do what you do with your day for a reason.

You want to spend your day giving a preferred future to someone else. And you want to spend your day using the preferred future that captivates your heart to benefit others.

Oh, it is super easy to forget what you do is done for other people.

Ever been in a restaurant that is too cold? Probably because the workers have the temperature set for their activities, not those sitting and heating a (hopefully) hot meal.

Ever been in a church more focused on preserving their membership? Probably because they’ve forgotten the message of Christ is for those who do not know Christ…not just for those who do.

Ever been in a company more focused on the board or shareholders? Probably because they’ve forgotten the best way to profit is to bring profit to others.

We have all become “those people” who think we do what we do for ourselves. We think this is the best way to profit. Instead, the best way to profit is to help others profit.

And remember, profit is more than the bottom line.

If anyone had the right to demand things be about him, Jesus would have that right.

Instead, despite the demands of his disciples to make everything about him, Jesus demanded to serve and sacrifice. He demanded to give his life as a ransom for others.

Jesus demanded to sacrifice so everyone else would profit.

We Sacrifice so the preferred future put into our hearts by God will benefit others.

Of course, when we talk about Love, we must go to 1 Corinthians 13. What does Paul say about Love?

Everything we do in Love is to benefit the other person.

We put away our wishes and desires so the other person can benefit.
We put away our envies and jealousies so the other person can benefit.
We put away our ability to remember the past failures so the other person can benefit.

When we Love through Sacrifice, not everyone will get it. People will take advantage of us. However, spending our days making sure other people benefit will profit us the most.
